About Dr. Ahmed

Dr. Ahmed is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Muscat Private Hospital, specialising in joint replacement (arthroplasty) and foot and ankle surgery. He has more than 35 years of clinical experience, having served at the Medical City Hospital for Military and Security Services in Al Khoudh since 1991, where he is a Senior Consultant in Orthopaedics.

His practice covers the full course of orthopaedic care, from diagnosis and fracture treatment to knee and hip replacement, revision joint surgery, arthroscopy and reconstruction of the foot and ankle. Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Ahmed is active in hospital management and orthopaedic training, chairing hospital management development committees and the examination subcommittee of the orthopaedic training programme.

Joint replacement is usually considered when arthritis causes persistent pain and stiffness that limit walking, sleep or daily activities, and medicines, injections and physiotherapy no longer help. Dr. Ahmed will review your symptoms and X-rays before recommending surgery.
Revision surgery replaces part or all of an earlier joint replacement that has worn out, loosened or become painful. Dr. Ahmed performs revision procedures for the knee and hip.
Repeated sprains or ongoing pain may mean the ankle ligaments have stretched or torn. Many patients improve with physiotherapy and bracing; when the ankle remains unstable, ligament repair or reconstruction may be recommended.
Arthroscopy is keyhole surgery in which a small camera and fine instruments are passed into the joint through tiny incisions. Dr. Ahmed uses it to diagnose and treat selected problems in the knee and ankle.
